9th Anniversary Celebration July 21


Pacific Ashtanga opened its doors on July 1, 2005.  
We are honored and grateful to be moving into our 9th year of service.

We invite all students and family to attend our Puja & Potluck Celebration on the eve of the Full Moon – Sunday, July 21st as follows:
  • Puja at 8am, before 1st Series Led > Please bring a flower for the puja
  • Potluck after Dragon, about 11:30am > If you would like, please bring a vegetarian dish to share.

Brief overview of Shala’s history: significances of Hermit, lanterns, deities, etc.

9th Year Celebration 
Sunday, July 21 (Eve of Full Moon) – 6-8 p.m. -  puja/potluck
July - A dedication to our beloved teacher, Guruji, and to our practice

Key thoughts/words for this auspicious year:
“Mindfulness” vs. Mindlessness
Path/Upaya:  “Transformation” and “Sustainability”

Transformation:  changes in body and spirit – wisdom (looking bird)
Sustainabililty:  what we do to nourish our body and spirit – koshas

No attachments – no “moving forward or moving backward,” but moving toward strength – Refinement in all the corners of our lives.

History of Pacific Ashtanga Yoga Shala


What is the significance of the “hermit” tarot card?
The hermit represents the “seeker,” the pathfinder …
The lantern is the light to show the way on your journey

The deities on the altar represent the variety of energy sources from
Ganesh, Lakshmi, Shiva, Tara, etc.

The photographs on the altar honor our teachers:  Guruji, Tim, Sharath, Diana

Bring your small/portable potted jade plant or sprig from your plant
